Father's Day Gift Guide

Father's Day Gift Guide

Hi everyone. This is Adam; Melissa's better half (I kid, Melissa is the rock star boss lady behind Salt and Branch). She asked me to write a blog post on Father's Day and I was honestly stumped at first. Not because I don't like Father's Day or gifts but I don't often shop for myself (I think we know who does the shopping in the family) so I wasn't sure where to start. Instead of buying the go-to gifts like socks or ties, think about what his interests are. If you are shopping for your dad or husband this Father's Day think about what small businesses are in your community that he likes to frequent or maybe try for the first time. Does he have a favorite coffee shop, bookstore, hardware store or record store? Here are a few of my picks that you can find online.

For the musician or music lover: If you are buying for a musician, he'd love this handmade wooden headphone holder from The Wooden Maiden. This holder is handmade by shop owner, Dana, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. You can find this wooden headphone holder on Etsy for $25.

For the disorganized dad: Is the dad in your life constantly misplacing his phone like I am? This personalized docking station by EtchCraft would be a great addition to help keep him organized. I may need to buy one for myself. We have purchased a business card holder from this maker and the quality of work is top notch. Available on Etsy for $38.99.

For the writer dad: These leather journals come in 5 different colors and can be customized with 10 different designs including such options as a compass, papa bear and the mountains are calling and I must go. These journals are $47.99 and can be found at Lifetime Leather Co.'s website here.

For the coffee drinker dad: Is there anything better than a good cup of coffee? While it's easy go to a chain coffee shop, look for an independent coffee roaster like Snowy Owl Coffee Roasters. Every time we are on Cape Cod, I need to get my Snowy Owl fix and luckily for everyone, you can order your favorite beans online. The Jaws blend is one of their most popular and one of my personal favorites. It has blueberry and chocolate undertones with a hint of citrus. You can find it here on their website in multiple sizes with 10 oz starting at $12.

For the candle loving dad: Warning, shameless self-promotion here. I am utterly addicted to the Woodfire Candle Company's Campfire scent candle and burn it in my music studio all the time. It smells like summer evenings spent outside by the fire. You can find the candle on our website on sale for $20.

Thanks for reading my first blog post. Enjoy shopping small.

Adam, your contribution is delightful. Not only are your ideas for Fathers Day gifts on target for the occasion, but you’re making it a smooth, pleasant experience. Most of the time none of us can ever think of anything else but ties. I hope you’ll be back soon with more ideas.

Thank you Adam for those great gift ideas.
